1) Yes, as polls show time and time again, most people trust the EPA, love the Clean Air Act, and want Congress to butt out from blocking it.
2) Their cost benefit analysis is the result of comprehensive research, and shows real benefits not only in the environment and health, but in the economy as well. They are required to craft economically reasonable regulations.
3) The carbon cycle is about emissions of CO2 vs. the absorption capacity of the environment, which we are exceeding. The amount of CO2 we exhale is nothing compared to what is released when we burn fossil fuels, which takes carbon that’s been fixed in the earth from prehistoric times. High levels of CO2 in the atmosphere create an insulating blanket, which is a driver of climatic changes.
4) The definition of pollution is waste that has harmful effects. CO2 emissions on such a scale fits that definition, and we are already seeing its problems. As Bucky Fuller said, “Pollution is just an untapped resource”. In our case it’s untapped and there is too much of it.
